Gemma O'Neill
We are thrilled to celebrate our newest Life Member in 2024 being, Gemma O'Neill (nee Rowe), who has been an integral part of the Grange Uniting Netball Club since 2002. Starting her journey at just 7 years old, Gem quickly became a key player in the U8s team, helping to revive junior netball at Grange.
Over her remarkable 22-year career, Gemma has achieved numerous accolades, including:
- Kevin Beare Award: Recognized as the fairest and most brilliant player in the SAUCNA A2 division in 2015.
- Back-to-Back Premierships: Successfully coached the A2 team to consecutive premierships in 2021 and 2022.
Her leadership, resilience, and love for the game have not only inspired her teammates but also fostered a strong sense of camaraderie within the club.
Inspiring commitment
Gemma’s journey has not been without challenges. After overcoming significant leg injuries and embracing motherhood, she continues to shine as the player-coach for our A1 team, with her son, Rory, cheering from the sidelines.
For two consecutive years, Gemma has also contributed as a committee member, showcasing her commitment to building and nurturing our club community. Her unwavering dedication means she has never missed a season, serving as a player, captain, umpire, coach, or committee member throughout her time at Grange.
