Club History

The Club was then known as 'The Grange Methodist Women's Basketball Club' - with ONE team. Miss Margaret McCullouch was Secretary. By 1970 the name was changed to the 'Grange Methodist Netball Club' when the name netball was brought in Australia wide. Lorna Godfrey was Secretary with 8 teams in the club. The uniform was a black tunic with white shirt. Players also wore long white socks with black Volleys (no ASICS back then!). In 1978 the name changed to the Grange Uniting Netball Club. 1987 saw the Club merged with other Church teams and became the Henley Uniting Parish Netball Club. We changed uniforms to the grey pleated skirt and pink polo shirts. We entered the first male team. In 2000 the name reverted back to the Grange Uniting Netball Club and the A line grey and maroon dress became our uniform. 2014 the Club celebrated 60 years. The "A line' pink/burgundy/silver dress was introduced for all age groups to wear. There were 22 winter teams registered. George Morgan was awarded the 'Golden Whistle' for 40 years of umpiring with the Club. 2017 the club was able to resurface the courts at Beach Street, thanks to the hard work of our members and the assistance of our valuable partners.

In 2019 Grange Uniting Netball Club finalised substantial funding from the State Government which assisted in improving facilities at the Grange Lawn Tennis Club.

Over the next two years, the Grange Uniting Netball Club was able accommodate a remarkable increase in their numbers, from 18 teams to an impressive 38 teams by 2023, establishing it as the largest netball club in the Western suburbs.

In 2023, the Grange Uniting Netball Committee collaborated with the local council to improve the Grange Lakes Corridor at Kentdale Reserve, introducing amenities such as a new public bathroom facility, water fountain, and netball lights. Furthermore, through a partnership with the City of Charles Sturt, the Grange Netball community successfully upgraded the netball courts and equipment shed at the intersection of Jetty Street and Kentdale Street, known as Kentdale Reserve. As a result of this collaboration, Grange Netball now holds the license for this facility.
