Coaches
If you would like to coach but don’t know where to start the club can support, you with coaching clinics at both club and association level. We will offer financial assistance to complete an online coaching course, which provides the basics for coaching. There are many members of our club who will happily help you. Let us know if you are interested. Coaching can be a very rewarding experience.
If you are interested in coaching a winter team your commitment would include:
- Attendance at a Coaches & Managers meet and greet (this will assist in organising a preferred training nights)
- A coaches/managers meetings during the season
- Conducting a 60min training session each week from March - August (approx)
- Coaching each weekly game (total of 18 rounds including finals)
- Attendance at the annual presentation night
- We also have a closed facebook group for coaches and team managers where you are able to ask questions and we can provide information through this means in addition to club emails.
Working with Children Check
A Working with Children Check issued by the Department of Human Services (DHS) Screening Unit is the only accepted form of background screening for working with children. Police checks, DCSI clearances, teacher’s registration, vulnerable person screening, or other screening types will not be accepted.
It is a requirement of Grange Netball that the following minimum requirements are met to support the provision of child safe environments:
- All persons 14 years old or over to whom the NA Child Safeguarding Policy (particularly the South Australian Addendum) applies must present a valid WWCC prior to engagement, regardless of whether they directly work with children.
- Note, Under the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016. A member of the South Australia Police or the Australian Federal Police are “excluded persons” and therefore do not require a WWCC.
- All WWCCs presented must be verified for accuracy using the DHS portal.
Team Managers
Your child’s team needs a volunteered team manager. Could this be you?
Team Managers role during our winter season, required to support the coach, parents and players. Team managers are the link between the club and players, for distributing communications. No you don’t need to know about netball, you just need to be:
- Willing to help the coach with rosters (don’t worry we have a template you can use)
- Attend majority of training sessions to liaise with coach and parents
- Attend the first team managers/coaches meeting
- Provide all players with team rosters etc (there are templates to assist you)
- Take responsibility for the team bag & equipment (pick up before season and drop back after season)
- Assist with logging scores online PlayHQ (how-to document provided).
- Ensure fill-in players are registered (how-to document provided)
